Biomedical hypothesis generation and literature-based discovery for landscape design

It is incredibly exciting to see our work transcend the bounds of its intended domain and find novel applications in unexpected areas. We initially developed AGATHA, a biomedical hypothesis generation system, to facilitate knowledge discovery within biomedical sciences. Yet, to our surprise and excitement, AGATHA's algorithm found an unanticipated yet transformative use in landscape design. AGATHA's unique ability to identify intricate conceptual relationships was exploited to understand the nexus between emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) and deforestation, enabling landscape planners to tread innovative research pathways.
